A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, has alleged that the Muhammadu Buhari-led government hijacked the #EndSARS protest using hoodlums.
Recall that some hoodlums attacked some #EndSARS protesters in Abuja in October, breaking the windscreens of parked cars and burning down cars. The hoodlums swooped on the protesters wielding wooden clubs and injuring some of them in the process.
According to reports, the hoodlums were paid N1,500 by loyalists of the ruling APC to attack the #EndSARS protesters.
Speaking in an interview with the Nation, Dokpesi, Chairman of DAAR Communications, disclosed that the present government has no respect for anybody or the rule of law. He added that the Buhari administration is acting like a dictatorship in a civilian government.
Dokpesi noted that the protesters were peaceful and unarmed during the protest, saying that it was the hoodlums that were armed by the APC government. He disclosed that it was the government that ordered the hoodlums to attack and chase the protesters in Abuja and other parts of the country.
The PDP chieftain also condemned the federal government for arresting the protesters and closing their bank accounts. He advised the government to stop the clampdown on protesters, and immediately ask the Central Bank of Nigeria to unfreeze those accounts.
