COVID-19: WHO to address rejection of Nigeria's vaccination card abroad

The World Health Organization (WHO) Friday says steps are being taken to address reported cases of rejection of COVID-19 cards of Nigerians traveling to Europe and America.

State WHO Representative, Faith Ireye said this in Benin while responding to questions from journalists.

She said “Yes, we have seen it. We have heard it and something is being down about it”.

“The analysis that has been carried out throughout the world, WHO has said that Nigeria is 4th best Country in the world. It will not apply to Nigeria. It has been discussed extensively. Something is being done. We are one of the best and it can’t apply to us”.

Also, representative of Africa Centre for Disease Control in Edo State Mr. Pius Ononigwe, urged residents who had first dose of vaccine to come for second one for full protection.

He said, “Nigerian government has obtained a strong commitment that the vaccine is safe”.

The Permanent Secretary, Edo State ministry of Health, Dr. Osawmonyi Irowa, charged residents to observe the safety protocol seriously.
