Suspended Senator Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has filed a N5.1 billion lawsuit against Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, alleging defamation. The suit, filed on April 7, 2025, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, follows Nwaebonyi’s appearance on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on March 6, where he reportedly called her a “gold digger,” “habitual liar,” and “habitual blackmailer.”

In suit No: CV/1359/25, Akpoti-Uduaghan argues the statements were “false, malicious, defamatory, and actionable per se,” claiming they damaged her reputation and caused public embarrassment. The senator also referenced defamatory remarks made on Arise TV and YouTube.

She seeks multiple declarations, retractions, a perpetual injunction, and N5 billion in damages, alongside N100 million in legal costs.
