A 20-year-old Ghanaian-British student, Parker Darren Hazekia Osei, has been arrested by the NDLEA at Lagos airport for attempting to smuggle 19.4kg of Loud, a potent cannabis strain, into Nigeria. The suspect, who claims to study Computer Science at East London University, was intercepted during the clearance of an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Bangkok. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi stated that Osei flew from London to Thailand a week earlier to procure the drugs, concealed in 36 parcels inside a travel bag.
In a related development, NDLEA operatives in Abia State arrested a 75-year-old man with 1.6kg of skunk and a 21-year-old with 2,050 ampoules of pentazocine. The arrests highlight the agency’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking across Nigeria.
