We are sliding backwards, and we must retrace our steps to save the country.

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has lamented what he described as the rapid decline of Nigeria, warning that the country is collapsing under the weight of insecurity, economic hardship, and poor governance.
Speaking at the 5th Chinua Achebe International Conference at Princeton University, USA, Obi decried the level of poverty and hardship across Nigeria, insisting that the country is moving in the wrong direction.
“Nigeria is collapsing. We are in a crisis,” he said. “We are sliding backwards, and we must retrace our steps to save the country.”
