Kenya is set to add 4,344 hotel rooms in 2025, ranking sixth in Africa for hotel development.

Kenya has emerged as the sixth nation in Africa with the highest number of hotel rooms in the pipeline. The country is expected to add 4,344 new hotel rooms this year, slightly surpassing Tunisia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Ghana.

Mohammed Hersi, Group Director of Operations at Pollmans Tours & Safaris, attributed this growth to Kenya’s strategic position. “Africa as a continent is witnessing a shift from the rest of the world. Nairobi is located in a very central location. There are a lot of activities going on in the region which brings a lot of interest for corporates to operate from Kenya. This is why we are seeing more hotel rooms coming up in this country in 2025,” he said.

Egypt leads the continent in hotel development, followed by Morocco. Kenya’s expansion reflects its growing appeal as a hub for both tourism and business in East Africa.
