No fewer than 47 people died on Sunday night in Zike community, located in the Kimakpa communities of Kwall District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred just over a week after a similar assault in Bokkos Local Government Area, which left 52 dead and caused millions of Naira in property damage.
The National Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association, Danjuma Dickson Auta, confirmed the incident in Jos on Monday.
“The attack was devastating and has left the community in shock and mourning,” Auta said.
The Plateau Police Command has yet to respond to the incident as of Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Government has expressed deep concerns over the increasing frequency of attacks, particularly the alleged occupation of communities by armed groups. This has contributed to escalating tensions in the region.
“The situation in Plateau is becoming untenable. Armed groups continue to terrorize our communities, and this cycle of violence must end,” the state government stated in a press release.
