In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor emphasized the need for proper authorization, particularly for political gatherings or IDP camp visits. “For anyone considering a visit to Benue State without the governor’s knowledge, it is essential to reconsider such plans, as their safety and security cannot be guaranteed,” the statement read. The governor, currently in high-level meetings, urged visitors to seek written permission from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) before accessing IDP camps.

Governor Hyacinth Alia has declared that unscheduled visits to Benue State, especially political rallies or IDP camp inspections, will not be tolerated. A statement titled “Notice Regarding Unscheduled Visit to Benue State” warned that unapproved entrants risk their safety. “He strongly discourages any group or high-profile individuals from entering the state for any form of visit that could lead to political gatherings, without obtaining prior approval,” the release stated. The governor directed all intending IDP camp visitors to secure BSEMA’s written permission, reinforcing strict adherence to state protocols amid ongoing security concerns.
