Authorities charged Shanetta Bossell, 38, with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and related felonies…she was previously arrested for allegedly biting a police officer.
A Missouri firefighter paramedic died Sunday after being stabbed by a patient during a transport to the hospital, Kansas City officials said.
Fire Medic Graham Hoffman, 29, was attacked in the ambulance following a routine medical call.
His partner “initiated a crew emergency” and rushed him to North Kansas City Hospital, where Hoffman died despite “heroic efforts” from paramedics and medical staff.
“His ambulance became a crime scene and Hoffman a victim of an unfathomable crime,” the Missouri Division of Fire Safety said.
Authorities charged Shanetta Bossell, 38, with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and related felonies. She is held on $1 million bond. Bossell was previously arrested on April 23 for allegedly biting a police officer.
Mayor Quinton Lucas called Hoffman’s death “especially painful” and praised his “selfless service for others.”
Interim City Manager Kimiko Gilmore said Hoffman’s “courage, compassion, and commitment will never be forgotten.”
The city urged prayers for Hoffman’s family and first responders.
