The Edo State Government has demolished a residential duplex in Benin City allegedly linked to kidnapping and organ harvesting.

In a statement released Tuesday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, said the property was the scene of a gruesome crime involving the abduction and killing of a young woman.

He disclosed that the suspect had been arrested in Lagos and would be extradited to face prosecution in Edo State. The building, owned by the suspect’s father, Mr. Martins Oghenewore, was torn down after authorities confirmed its link to the crime.

“His Excellency has directed that this is only the beginning,” Itua stated. “More buildings used for criminal activities will be demolished. This is backed by existing laws.”

Mr. Oghenewore, visibly distressed, said, “Now he has destroyed everything I worked for. This house was my retirement plan.”

Itua also confirmed that another property, Externo Hotel, was sealed for cult-related activities.
