A Kano High Court on Monday sentenced four men—Nafi’u Isah, Haruna Ya’u, Nadabo Mohammed, and Sa’adu Musa—to 40 years and six months each for armed robbery and attempted murder.
Justice Usman Na’abba ruled that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. He sentenced the convicts to six months for conspiracy, 20 years for armed robbery, 10 years for attempted murder, and five years for causing grievous hurt. The terms will run concurrently.
The judge also ordered them to repay N650,000 or serve five extra years in prison.
Prosecution Counsel, Mr Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, told the court the crime occurred on May 1, 2022, in Kunkurawa Village, Dawakin Kudu.
“The defendants beat the complainant and his family, causing grievous injury to his son… and robbed them of N650,000,” he said.
The convicts denied the charges.
