The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over multiple allegations of financial crimes.

According to a statement issued Tuesday, the EFCC said Otse was arrested following his refusal to honour several invitations relating to “a series of petitions bordering on sundry issues of alleged financial crimes.”

He was picked up on Friday after visiting a GTBank branch in Area 3, Garki, Abuja, and is currently being held under a valid remand order.

“The EFCC has a lawful right to hold Otse in custody like any other suspect… He has been offered administrative bail and would be released after fulfilling all the bail conditions,” the statement noted.

While acknowledging Otse’s criticism of its operations, the Commission stressed that his arrest was based solely on the petitions received.

It urged Nigerians to allow it to “do its job without fear or favour” and pledged to file charges once investigations are complete.
