A middle-aged farmer, Itoro Jimmy Umanah, was brutally murdered by suspected cultists at his residence in Udianga Enem, Etim Ekpo LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
The attack, which occurred over the weekend, happened while the victim, his wife, and three children were asleep.
His wife, Mrs. Jimmy Umanah, told reporters: “They came about 10:00 pm and called my husband out. He shouted for help but no one came. I escaped into the bush with the children.”
She said the assailants used machetes to cut him into pieces and left him in a pool of blood.
Village Chairman, Chief Lawson Akpanowon, confirmed the incident was reported to Utu Etim Ekpo Police Station, and the body was buried with police approval.
Police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the incident, stating: “Investigation into the incident has commenced. Investigation is ongoing.”
