Boko Haram has not only resurged but returned with deadlier tactics, including the use of weaponised drones

The House of Representatives erupted in heated debate Tuesday as lawmakers from Nigeria’s conflict zones warned of Boko Haram’s deadly resurgence. Ahmed Jaha (APC, Borno) revealed terrorists now deploy weaponized drones, outgunning Nigerian troops. “I have seen it. Nobody told me. I was there,” Jaha stated, detailing recent massacres: 10 farmers slaughtered in Pulka, 14 in Chibok, and multiple military casualties in Izge and Kampu.

Jaha, representing Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza, criticized security spending failures: “Between 2015 and 2019, we spent N19.7 trillion on security, yet Boko Haram is resurging worse than ever.” His motion followed reports of Giwa Barracks’ armory fire and escalating attacks on Borno/Yobe military bases. The lawmaker emphasized insurgents’ technological edge, stressing urgent oversight.

“They are more sophisticated than the Nigerian Army,” Jaha warned, recalling his condolence visit to constituents. The session highlighted growing concerns over security deterioration despite massive expenditures, with lawmakers demanding immediate action to address the insurgents’ alarming advancements.
