President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Anambra State, the home state of Peter Obi, yesterday, scored a huge point in his political bridge-building and consummation of bipartisan strategies towards his own re-election in 2027.

President Bola Tinubu strengthened his 2027 re-election bid during Thursday’s Anambra visit, securing an unprecedented endorsement from the state’s ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Governor Chukwuma Soludo announced the alliance, stating APGA and APC would collaborate as “progressive partners.” The President reciprocated by endorsing Soludo’s second-term ambition and inaugurating legacy projects, including Anambra’s first Government House 33 years after state creation.

Traditional rulers crowned Tinubu “Dike Si Mba” (Hero from Another Land), a symbolic gesture led by Igwe Chidubem Iweka. The title, awarded during a town hall meeting, aimed to foster unity in Obi’s home state. Former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku urged prayers for Tinubu, recalling his NADECO legacy: “Governing Nigeria is complex… I pray God gives you wisdom to steer the ship rightly.”

The visit marked Tinubu’s second Southeast tour this year after Enugu in January, with critics dismissing some projects as “prestige optics.” However, APGA’s adoption signals potential inroads for APC in the traditionally opposition-dominated region ahead of 2027.
