Dangote also acknowledged past tensions over crude supply in naira and alleged that major marketers—not the NNPC board—were working against his refinery.
ABUJA — Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has said his $20bn refinery is not in competition with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited. He made the statement during a visit to the new NNPC GCEO, Bayo Ojulari, on Thursday in Abuja.
“There is no competition between us; we are not here to compete with NNPC Ltd… This is an era of cooperation between the two organisations,” Dangote said.
The visit, according to NNPC spokesperson Olufemi Soneye, is part of efforts to promote synergy between the state oil firm and the private refinery. The two parties agreed to deepen collaboration to ensure Nigeria’s energy security.
Dangote also acknowledged past tensions over crude supply in naira and alleged that major marketers—not the NNPC board—were working against his refinery.
Ojulari assured of a productive partnership, noting the NNPC team’s professionalism and readiness to deliver national value through innovation and shared goals.
