Nigerian pastor Timothy Omotoso was re-arrested by South African authorities on Saturday, just weeks after being acquitted of rape and human trafficking charges. The 66-year-old televangelist, who leads Jesus Dominion International, was detained in East London.

Omotoso had been facing 32 charges, including sexual exploitation, following testimonies from young women who claimed they were abused during private prayer sessions. After nearly nine years in custody, Omotoso was acquitted last month of all charges.

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola confirmed the arrest, explaining it was related to immigration issues. “The arrest is based on immigration matters,” he said, adding that the pastor would appear in court soon. The arrest was coordinated by immigration officials and police units.
