Nigerians will now pay N28,574 to correct any errors with their date of birth (DOB) on their National Identification Number (NIN) at the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), marking a 75% increase from the previous N16,340. This price hike is outlined in NIMC’s updated document titled ‘Schedule of Fees, Licenses, and Permits: Version 3.0,’ released on Saturday.
NIMC justified the fee hike by citing rising operational costs and the need for alignment with industry standards. The document revealed that modifications to other fields, like names or addresses, now cost N2,000 per transaction, a 31% increase.
Additionally, the cost for VIP NIN services now stands at N20,000, with NIN slip re-issuance for VIPs costing N3,500. The commission noted that the revised fee structure is also in response to inflation and a broader revenue drive.
