The new NIN date of birth correction fee, which represents a 75 per cent increase from the previous charge of N16,340, makes it the most expensive data modification service under the Commission’s revised pricing regime.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has implemented a sharp increase in service fees, with date of birth corrections on the National Identification Number (NIN) database now costing N28,574—a 75% jump from the previous N16,340 charge. The Commission attributed the hike to Nigeria’s 32.7% inflation rate, rising operational costs, and reduced government funding. Other modifications, such as name, gender, and address changes, now cost N2,000, while NIN slip re-issuance increased from N500 to N600.
