President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace the country’s religious and cultural diversity as a means of achieving national prosperity.

Speaking in Rome on Sunday during a meeting with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, Tinubu stressed the value of unity and inclusive leadership.

“If we use our diversity not for adversity but for prosperity, the country’s hope is stability and progress,” he said in a statement by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu led Nigeria’s delegation to the installation Mass of Pope Leo XIV, describing the event as historic. He also called on government leaders to prioritize citizens’ welfare and work towards a stable and prosperous nation.

Archbishop Lucius Ugorji thanked Tinubu for facilitating the bishops’ visit to Rome for both the late Pope Francis’ burial and the new Pope’s installation.

“You are always there for us,” Ugorji told Tinubu, promising future engagement in Nigeria.
