According to the source, Zango was apprehended after he presented his passport as part of a group of Muslim pilgrims from Abuja preparing to embark on this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
A suspected kidnapper, Yahaya Zango, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Hajj camp in Abuja on Sunday during pre-departure screenings for pilgrims heading to Saudi Arabia. Zango, a resident of Paikon-Kore in Gwagwalada, had been declared wanted for alleged involvement in multiple abductions. “He was apprehended after presenting his passport during the screening process,” a security source revealed.
The arrest occurred as Zango attempted to blend in with other pilgrims, unaware that security agencies were tracking him. A senior official from the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board confirmed the incident but requested anonymity. The suspect had reportedly been evading capture despite an ongoing manhunt.
This development highlights the vigilance of security operatives in monitoring high-profile suspects, even in sensitive locations like pilgrimage centers. Authorities have yet to disclose further details about Zango’s alleged crimes or his intended travel plans.
