He called on Guinness to help facilitate future visits by Premier League teams during off-season breaks, noting…“we just want to hug them and take a selfie.”
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday received the Premier League trophy during a courtesy visit by Guinness Nigeria Plc at the Lagos House, Marina.
The event, led by Managing Director Girish Sharma, forms part of Guinness’ effort to connect Nigerian fans with global football.
Sanwo-Olu described the trophy as “an inspiration to millions of young people,” adding, “It is about using sports as a way of connecting to the youth demographic… to identify the skills, capacity and capability of our young people.”
He called on Guinness to help facilitate future visits by Premier League teams during off-season breaks, noting, “We don’t bite people… we just want to hug them and take a selfie.”
Sharma praised Lagos for its business-friendly environment, stating, “We make sure the trophy comes to Nigeria because this is one of the largest sporting nations.”
Guinness Nigeria, celebrating 75 years, reaffirmed its commitment to investing in Nigeria’s sports and economic landscape.
