The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State, which claimed at least 21 lives and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
We pray God to console families who have lost loved ones and properties in the Mokwa incident
In a statement on Friday, NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq, conveyed the forum’s condolences to Governor Usman Bago, the Niger State Government, and affected families.
“We are shocked by the magnitude of the flooding, which has resulted in the loss of lives and properties in the community,” AbdulRazaq said.
He commended the efforts of the state government and emergency responders in supporting the victims.
“This flood again reminds us of the stark realities of climate change and the accompanying effects on how we live,” he added, affirming the forum’s commitment to working with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on disaster mitigation and relief.
