A devastating flood in Niger State’s Kpege community has killed 115 people, with one family losing 17 members overnight. Survivor Anas Usman recounted: “Our house collapsed when submerged—we lost children, women, and men.” Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba confirmed ongoing rescue operations during an assessment visit ordered by Governor Umaru Bago.
“Over 100 bodies recovered, some still unburied,” Garba disclosed at an IDP camp. NEMA’s DG Zubaida Umar added: “We’ve deployed relief materials including rice and blankets through NSEMA.”
