“The voice in the recording is not mine — it has been cloned and manipulated with clear malicious intent.”
Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has disowned a viral audio and video purportedly showing her accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of blackmailing President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement personally signed in Abuja on Wednesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed the recordings as “deliberate misinformation” aimed at damaging her reputation and creating unrest in the National Assembly.
“I categorically and unequivocally dissociate myself from this video and audio recording,” she said. “The voice in the recording is not mine — it has been cloned and manipulated with clear malicious intent.”
She described the materials as a criminal abuse of technology and accused unnamed actors of attempting to destabilise government leadership through digital impersonation.
The senator said she had directed her legal team and security agencies to investigate the origins of the fake content and prosecute the culprits.
“I remain steadfast in my service to the people and urge Nigerians to remain vigilant against coordinated campaigns of disinformation,” she added.
