The updated ban, a revival of his contentious 2017 Muslim travel restrictions, also imposes entry limits on seven additional nations. The move follows a Boulder firebombing attack by an Egyptian immigrant, though Egypt was notably excluded from the restrictions.
A White House official claimed the policy was fast-tracked after “the Boulder attack,” while critics highlighted the inclusion of “a country that hasn’t existed for decades.” The 2017 ban previously caused chaos with travelers detained mid-flight.
