Renna O’Rourke, 19, died after attempting a viral inhalant challenge known as “dusting.” Her parents are now sharing their grief to warn others of the deadly social media trend.

Arizona teenager Renna O’Rourke has died after attempting the viral TikTok “dusting” challenge, where users inhale aerosol sprays for a short-term high. The 19-year-old reportedly went into cardiac arrest after inhaling a cleaning product, and was later declared brain dead following several days in intensive care.

“She always said, ‘I’m gonna be famous, Dad,’” her father, Aaron O’Rourke, told AZFamily. “Unfortunately, this is not under the most optimal of circumstances.”

Renna and her boyfriend used a delivery app to bring keyboard cleaner to her home, her mother Dana said. “We want to make sure that we use our tragedy so that no other parent has to experience looking at their child on life support.”

The family has since donated Renna’s organs to six recipients and launched a GoFundMe to raise awareness and cover medical costs. “She will be unbelievably missed… but if her life is to mean anything, we are going to do what we can to prevent this,” Dana added.
