“We will not take any form of laxity from any Chairman… By the time we use one or two persons as examples, others will sit up,” he added.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has threatened to remove any of the 25 local government chairmen failing in their security duties.
Speaking in Asaba, he decried rising insecurity, particularly kidnappings, and called consistent attendance at security council meetings “non-negotiable.”
“If you are weak as a council Chairman, we will remove you,” he warned.
He urged youths to avoid inciting posts online and instead support security agencies. “Reports of insecurity, especially kidnapping, are still prevalent,” he said.
Oborevwori blamed the influx of “undesirable elements” from neighboring states and promised to deploy technology to tackle crime.
“We will not take any form of laxity from any Chairman… By the time we use one or two persons as examples, others will sit up,” he added.
