He also clarified that his intention with the £2.5 billion proceeds from the sale, frozen in a UK bank account, was to support victims of the Ukraine conflict.

Roman Abramovich, the former owner of Chelsea Football Club, has broken his silence for the first time in three years following the club’s sale. In a new book, Sanctioned: The Inside Story of the Sale of Chelsea FC, Abramovich reveals that he has no interest in returning to football ownership. He stated, “I don’t have any interest in any role in a football club, certainly not a professional role.”

He also clarified that his intention with the £2.5 billion proceeds from the sale, frozen in a UK bank account, was to support victims of the Ukraine conflict. However, disagreement with the UK government over fund distribution has persisted.

Abramovich expressed a desire to return to Stamford Bridge to say a proper farewell to fans but emphasized he was “done with that in this lifetime.”
