“If the party had listened to what we said, we wouldn’t have been where we are today, and we have continued to sound it to the party.”
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can only survive by strictly adhering to its constitution and Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, during a meeting with key party stakeholders in Abuja.
Addressing former governors Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Ortom (Benue), and Ikpeazu (Abia), Wike blamed the PDP’s current crisis on ignoring the G5 Governors’ 2023 demand for presidential zoning. “If the party had listened to us, we wouldn’t be where we are today,” he stated, maintaining their stance stabilized Nigeria’s polity despite criticism.
The ex-Rivers governor also questioned the party’s “double standards” in barring National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu from resuming office after losing Imo’s governorship race. He urged unity among “committed members” to rebuild the opposition party through constitutional fidelity.
