Russia has warned Israel of severe consequences should it attempt to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated Friday that such an action would be viewed “extremely negatively” and deemed deeply alarming.
In an interview with Fox News, Peskov also raised concerns about U.S. involvement in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. “This is very concerning to us. It means an escalation of regional tensions,” he said. Addressing rumors of potential U.S. nuclear strikes on Iran, he added, “This would be a catastrophic development, but I do not want to respond to various speculations.”
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov echoed these warnings, accusing the U.S. of consistent interference in global conflicts. “We warn Washington even against raising such options speculatively. It is a step that would severely destabilize the entire situation,” Ryabkov stated.
