“After you, Rivers will tumble. After Rivers, Bayelsa will join,” Akpabio says at APC event in Uyo.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has hinted that Rivers and Bayelsa states may soon defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party makes inroads across the South-South.

Akpabio made the remark on Saturday during a grand reception to officially welcome Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State into the APC in Uyo.

“Governor Sheriff of Delta State, thank you for joining the progressive family and moving the South South in a progressive direction,” Akpabio said. “Governor Umo Eno, after you, Rivers State will just tumble. After Rivers State, Bayelsa will join.”

He praised the party’s growing influence, citing APC’s recent win in Edo State and the emergence of Monday Okpebholo as the party’s flagbearer.

Governor Eno had earlier blamed internal PDP crises for his decision to join the ruling party. He officially defected to the APC on June 6.

The event was attended by members of the Progressive Governors Forum and senior AP

C leaders.
