A leaked internal memo has revealed a bomb threat targeting the University of Jos, sparking increased campus security. The memo, dated July 4 and signed by acting Chief Security Officer Agama Solomon Tangni, instructed all security personnel to be on high alert following “credible intelligence” of a potential attack.
“I write this URGENT memo to notify you of a bomb threat in Jos, particularly targeting University of Jos,” Tangni stated. He urged that “all persons entering and exiting the premises of the University are to be searched properly.”
Though no public statement has been made by the university, the document was copied to top officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), indicating institutional awareness and response.
Meanwhile, Plateau State Police dismissed the threat as unconfirmed. Spokesman Alfred Alabo said, “there is no credible evidence” but assured that precautionary sweeps were underway, including deployment of the Anti-Bomb Squad and intelligence units to bolster campus safety.
