PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma burst into tears on the pitch after Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala suffered a suspected fibula fracture during their Club World Cup quarter-final.

The 22-year-old attacker was left screaming in pain when his left leg was caught under Donnarumma’s body as they collided at the byline late in the first half.

Team-mates, including England captain Harry Kane, looked distraught, with Kane gesturing urgently for a stretcher.

Musiala was stretchered off and taken to hospital.

Donnarumma was shown weeping on one knee before half-time.

“All my prayers and well wishes are with you @jamalmusiala10,” he wrote on Instagram afterwards.

Despite the incident, PSG won 2-0 despite going down to nine men.

The European champions scored twice in added time and survived two red cards to progress, though Musiala’s injury cast a shadow over the win.

Sky Sports Germany reports Musiala has broken his fibula and damaged ligaments, facing up to five months out.
