“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk posted on X.
Elon Musk announced the formation of the “America Party” on Saturday, declaring the two-party system “broken” just a day after President Trump signed his sweeping $3.3 trillion “big, beautiful bill” into law.
“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk posted on X. “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”
The bill, signed at the White House on July 4, includes tax cuts, infrastructure spending, and stimulus measures. Musk’s new party aims to win a handful of Congressional seats to hold the balance of power.
Some conservatives warned it could split the right’s vote.
Critics also noted Musk’s poll backing a new party was informal and vulnerable to bots.
The White House has not commented on Musk’s move, which underscores growing rifts among conservatives over federal spending.
