Ben Ukpepi: NLC chairman in Cross River missing ▷ Nigeria news

– The Cross River state chairman of NLC, Ben Ukpepi, has been reportedly kidnapped

– Ukpepi was abducted by some gunmen at his residence on Tuesday, December 17

– However, the police spokesperson in the state, DSP Irene Ugbo, said that they are about to get a briefing on the development

The head of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), in Cross River, Ben Ukpepi, was on Tuesday, December 17, reportedly kidnapped at the Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the state.

A source who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity revealed that the incident took place in the evening of Tuesday.

The source said Ukpepi was abducted in his own residence by the abductors, PM News reports.

The source stated: ”When he went inside the house he got a call, because of the noise inside he decided to go outside to take the call that was when his abductors struck.

“For some minutes they waited for him to enter the house, he did not, they went to check on him, low and behold, he was nowhere to be found, that was when they realised what had happened.”

The source further said that upon realising that the the NLC boss was missing, Ukpepi family members kept calling his telephone line only to learn that his phone was no where to be found, having been stolen and switched off by the kidnappers.

However, DSP Irene Ugbo, the police spokesperson said that she is yet to get a briefing on the issue and that the command will furnish the family with more information as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reporetd that a senior police officer has been reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen.

Ahijo Mujeli, the kidnap victim was the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Mubi North local government area in Adamawa state.

Mujeli was kidnapped on Tuesday, November 19, on his way from Yola, the capital of the state, according to residents whowere aware of the incident.
