Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga has a slight lead in the currently tight presidential race.
At the time of going to the press, the votes tallying done by Citizen TV indicated the ODM leader had 1,892,477 votes.
Raila is closely followed by his arch-political rival, Kenya Kwanza Alliance candidate William Ruto with 1,870,964 votes.
Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has 17,413 while Agano’s David Mwaure has 7,666.
The tallying of votes is ongoing.
Media tallying behind
As previously reported, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati briefed the nation on the state of votes tallying and streaming of results.
The Kenyan media has been streaming their own tally since voting ceased on Tuesday, August 9.
There have however been discrepancies among the media houses as they post varying results as counting and tallying continue.
Addressing a presser on Wednesday afternoon, Chebukati divulged that the local media was lagging behind in their findings.
Low turnout
In other news, the electoral agency said 65% of the over 22 million registered voters turned up to cast their votes for the 2022 General Election.
Chebukati said the final voter turnout will be released once all data has been computed.
The statistics by IEBC were according to details captured by the biometric voter identification, as details of manual voter identification were yet to be tabulated.
