Mikel Arteta was perhaps the coolest man inside the Emirates Stadium after Gabriel Magalhaes scored Arsenal’s winner against Fulham.
The Gunners had to come from behind to maintain their 100 per cent start to the new Premier League season after Aleksandar Mitrovic opened the scoring 11 minutes into the second half before Martin Odegaard equalised by the fortune of a deflected effort which set up a grandstand finish.
Both sides had chances to take the lead, but in the end, it was Arsenal who took the spoils from this surprisingly feisty London derby when Gabriel took advantage of Bernd Leno – against his former club – failing to hold the ball from a corner to poke home from close range and spark wild scenes inside the ground.
However, Arteta somehow managed to keep his emotions in check. As spotted on Reddit, after the ball hits the back of the net, the Gunners boss turns to celebrate only to immediately gesture towards making a substitution, and when play resumed, Takehiro Tomiyasu had replaced Gabriel Jesus.
Upon a closer look at the video clip, Arteta speaks to assistant coach Albert Stuivenberg before heading over to Tomiyasu, who was on the bench cheering the goal. It’s quite clear that the message was for the Japan international to get ready as he had a part to play in helping the hosts see out the victory…
