Without Chelsea, Leicester City might be wondering where they would be right now.
The pair just love doing business together and this time it’s Wesley Fofana who has been plucked from the King Power.
Signed for £70million plus add-ons, the France centre-back will no doubt strengthen the Blues.
Not only that, he’s strengthened the Foxes’ bank balance which has come under scrutiny this summer.
Although, it’s now reported manager Brendan Rodgers will only get one third of this to spend on new players.
Of Leicester City’s most expensive sales, four of the top six, including Fofana, have all moved to Stamford Bridge.
And it’s quite the list too over the last six years.
England left-back Ben Chilwell was the previous player to head to west London in 2020, joining for a £50m fee, significantly bolstering the King Power coffers.
In fact, it was a deal which allowed Leicester to splurge £30m on Fofana, who was at Saint-Etienne.
So, selling an academy product for £50m, could be considered to have garnered the club a total profit of £90m.
Before Chilwell’s transfer, it was Danny Drinkwater being sold for £35m, which certainly seems like an incredible deal with 20/20 hindsight.
Meanwhile, the man the kick-started this talent drain was N’Golo Kante who moved in 2016 for just £32m, which has been a bargain for the Blues given his impressive career…
