Antonio Conte has made five changes to his Tottenham team for this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Fulham. Drawing 1-1 at West Ham in midweek, Spurs will be looking to bounce back with victory to up the pressure on those at the top.
Handed a boost ahead of today’s encounter with Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur returning from injury, Conte has selected both in his starting XI. Clement Lenglet also comes into the backline in place of Ben Davies, while Ryan Sessegnon gets the nod at left wing-back ahead of Ivan Perisic.
Richarlison is named in the Tottenham XI for the first time since his £60million move from Everton, taking the place of Dejan Kulusevski in Spurs’ front three. It means Son Heung-min gets another chance to end his struggles in front of goal this term.
While Tottenham have started the season positively and remain unbeaten, Fulham have also caught the eye and currently sit eighth. Playing very well against Liverpool and Arsenal in the opening month of the season, the Spurs boss knows his side are going to be in for a very tough game.
“They are playing very well, with good intensity and they play two games against strong opponents like Liverpool and Arsenal, also in the last game against Brighton, another really good team. They start very well and we have to pay great attention,” explained the Italian.
“For us it is the third game in six days and for sure the energy, we have to try to check very well the energy we use tomorrow and to use a lot of brain, not the emotional aspect. Tomorrow it will be to one side to use the brain very well to understand the game because the game will be very difficult, I am sure about it.”
