Good Morning Britain presenter Noel Phillips has been left “shaken” after he was attacked while out in central London.

Noel, who is GMB’s North America correspondent, revealed he was “mugged, racially assaulted and spat on” during the attack.

The reporter took to social media and thanked the Met Police for their help as he shared a photo of a man being pinned to the floor by two police officers.

The broadcaster penned on Twitter today (September 3): “I was mugged, racially assaulted, and spat on yesterday on a busy street in central London. I’m ok. Just shaken.”

He added: “Thanks to Sgt Clark & PC Busson from @metpolicuk Euston town centre team for helping me catch and detain the ruthless thief who was already on probation for robbery.”

BBC News journalist Michael Cowan also responded to the tweet, saying: “So sorry you had to go through this Noel. X.”

Rich Preston, a presenter for BBC News, also sent his support to Noel in the replies, responding: “Noel, I am so so sorry. I’m glad you feel ok but please do give yourself time and take it easy. Very glad this person was caught. I’m so sorry this happened. Sending lots of love’.

“Horrible to hear. Hope you’re okay and thank you for using your platform to praise good policing even in the terrible personal circumstances for you…
