On Monday, the newly-crowned King Charles III experienced a new controversy at Queen Elizabeth II‘s state funeral. As he attended the masses, where thousands of people queued to say a final farewell to the Queen in the Palace of Westminster Chapel, his encounter with a black man sparked controversy on social media.
Along with his son William of Wales, he approached attendees, but he made a gesture that did not go down well, and was even described as racist, which amassed over 60,000 ‘likes’ and more than 17,000 retweets, as well as more than two million views.
What gesture did Charles III make?
While he was greeting those who were in attendance, at one point it was the turn of a black citizen to hold out his hand, but at that moment Charles III turned his head, looked at the man again and did not shake his hand, despite the fact that he insisted on giving it to him.

The controversy is already divided between those who believe that it was a coincidence, that he did not see him and that he simply cannot greet all the people who were there. In addition, they responded to the tweet with other photos and videos where Charles III appears greeting and shaking hands with black people.
