Senate probes N5trn service wide vote 

The Senate Wednesday commenced  investigation of 252 Federal Government ministries, departments and agencies agencies that benefited from the N5trn Service Wide Votes (SWV) between 2017 and 2021.

SWV, also known as the Consolidated Revenue Fund Charge, is a contingency fund in a nation’s annual budget.

The Senate is probing  the SWV following the discovery by its Committee on Public Account that many agencies  collected funds from the vote without notifying the National Assembly Panels that has been mandated by law to oversight the agencies.

The Chairman of the Senate panel, Senator Mathew Urhoghide ( PDP Edo South),  said that the Investigation has to do with disbursement of Service Wide Votes from 2017 to 2021.

He added that the Service Wide Votes has become a major component of the nation’s budget considering the amount budgeted annually for it in the budget.
