Nigerian hospital gets US grant for cancer research

Cedarcrest Hospitals has been awarded a medical research grant by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to conduct cancer research.

The agency, in a statement on its website, said, “It has awarded a grant to Nigeria’s Cedarcrest Hospitals Limited for a feasibility study to develop a comprehensive cancer treatment centre in Abuja that will provide diagnosis and treatment services for up to 1,000 patients per year.”

The statement also revealed that the study “will provide the analysis required for Cedarcrest to design and implement a comprehensive cancer treatment centre that will improve access to oncology services. The centre will offer full-range oncology services to include prevention and screening, diagnostics, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgical oncology, and radiotherapy.”
