The PUNCH: Days after the Central Bank of Nigeria announced the redesign of the N1,000, N500 and N200 notes, with a directive that the current notes be remitted to the commercial banks, wealthy individuals and organisations with huge cash stashed away have begun depositing them, Saturday PUNCH can report. Our correspondents gathered from sources and workers in the operations department of many commercial banks that even though there has yet to be any rush by customers, there was a gradual increase in the volume of cash and amounts being remitted by customers.


The Guardian: Fear of ethnic and religious prejudices, inadequate equipment to prosecute assignments and hoarding of vacancies have been blamed for the inability of the South-East geo-political zone to meet its quota in the ongoing recruitment exercise in the Nigerian Army. The Enugu State government had yesterday morning expressed worries over the inability of the state to fill its quota in previous recruitment exercises.


This Day: While the former Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice are on trial at a London Court for alleged trafficking of a minor to the UK with the intention to harvest his organ, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday secured a court order for the interim forfeiture of 40 landed properties of the beleaguered Senator in different parts of the world.


The Nation: The ill fate befalling former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, was compounded yesterday as a Federal High Court in Abuja granted the request of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for interim forfeiture of about 40 landed property believed to have been unlawfully acquired by him.


Saturday Sun: Four out of five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), may finally take a position on the presidential candidate to support ahead of the 2023 general elections. The four PDP governors are Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
