AKURE – A traditional ruler, Oba Clement Jimoh Olukotun, the Oloso of Oso, Ajowa- Akoko, Ondo State, has been kidnapped by some gunmen from his palace.
A family source disclosed that the gunmen invaded the palace on Thursday night and abducted the former chairman, Council of Ajowa Obas.
The traditional ruler of the community in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State was taken away in the waiting vehicle of the invaders.
While escaping with the monarch, the gunmen were said to be shooting sporadically to scare the people away.
A family source revealed that when the invaders stormed the palace of the monarch, they were said to have knocked at the door, but had to shoot at the door to gain entry into the palace.
Having successfully gained entry into the palace, the gunmen abducted the monarch of the interstate border town at gunpoint around 10:15pm.
According to the family source, “When they(gunmen) came, they surrounded the building and started ordering the monarch and other occupants to open the door and surrender willingly, but nobody answered. At this point, they started shooting . They destroyed the main door and gained entry.
They terrorised Kabiyesi and his family members before dragging him out and took him away. None of the family members had been contacted, but we knew they were kidnappers.”
