Prosecutors say there are “strong indications” Russian President Vladimir Putin “decided on supplying” a Buk missile system to Ukrainian separatists which was used to down flight MH17, killing 298 people.
The Malaysia Airlines flight was headed from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was downed on July 17, 2014. Among those killed were 10 Britons.
It has already been proven that a Russian-made missile was responsible for the incident above Ukraine.
But now Dutch prosecutors, with Dutch authorities put in charge of the investigation, say there is evidence that Putin decided to provide the missile to Russian-backed separatists, reports the Mirror.
However, Dutch prosecutor Digna van Boetzelaer said: “Although a lot of new information has been discovered about various people involved, the evidence is at the moment not concrete enough to lead to new prosecutions.”
