Globally acclaimed songster Temilade Openiyi aka Tems has shared her reason for wearing the ‘view-blocking’ yet ‘show-stealing’ dress to the 2023 Oscars.
Tems trended on social media the previous day after images of her extravagant outside to the 65th Academy Awards flooded the internet.
The “Free Mind” singer stepped out in a white Lever Couture gown with delicate tulle fabric weaved into a head-to-toe asymmetrical silhouette.
She teamed the number with silver gemstone heels and bling on her wrists and fingers.
However, while Tems look wowed on the carpet, the story took a different turn once she made it inside the venue, especially for the audience members seated behind her.
She received criticisms after for her Lever Couture gown seeing its avant-garde design seemingly obstructed the views of some of the guests.
Remarking on the flurry of reactions that trailed her outfit, the Grammy-winning singer, speaking with Harper’s Bazzar, in a pre-Oscars interview gave behind-the-scenes details on the controversial gown.
According to the 27-year-old songstress, she decided to ‘go all out’ and ‘make the most’ of her first Oscars attendance.
“Two years ago, I would’ve said no to this dress. But it’s my first Oscars-I am going to go all out”, she said…
