President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday condoled with the family of late Prof. Idris Abdulkadir, saying his “wise counsel on key policy matters in education, science and technology” will never be forgotten.
Late Abdulkadir was a Professor of Veterinary Surgery and Medicine and former Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC).
In a condolence message by Buhari’s spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja, the President described Abdulkadir as a scholar par excellence and a towering statesman.
According to him, the deceased “was a versatile personality and a great scholar”, adding that he was “blessed with a wealth of scientific knowledge.”
Buhari also applauded the late Abdulkadir for his role in strengthening Nigeria’s university system.
Buhari, however, prayed for the repose of Abdulkadir’s soul and the courage for his family, the federal government and the people of Kaduna State to bear the loss.
