Juventus have their 15-point deduction REVOKED by Italy's sports body

Italy’s top sports body has cancelled the decision to dock Juventus 15 points, over a case centered on the club’s transfer dealings, and ordered football’s authorities to hold another hearing, on Thursday.

In January, the national football federation (FIGC) confirmed that the club had been deducted the points and that sanctions were handed out to several staff members following the investigation. 

It was a shocking moment in Italian and European football, as the Italian giants were deducted the massive amount of points in the league but it seems the decision has now been overturned. 

Italy’s Sports Guarantee Board have now confirmed, after Juventus appealed the decision from January, that a court made up of different judges should now hold new proceedings against Juventus and the directors and come up with more appropriate punishment.

They have not cleared Juventus of any wrongdoing but have inspected the appeal made by the club, which detailed how other clubs have dealt with player exchange deals.  

The prosecutor of the case alleged that the club had misrepresented losses in the period between 2018 and 2020, particularly regarding the amount ascribed to player sales.

The whole board resigned in November, leading to various media outlets claiming the unanimous decision came as a result of involvement in the Prisma investigation.

With eight games left to play, the decision will lift Juventus from seventh to third in the Serie A table – with 59 points, still 16 behind leaders Napoli but back into the qualifying spots for the lucrative European Champions League.

On top of the points deduction, Juventus were also initially handed sanctions upon 11 of their directing members of staff – however it is yet to be seen what will happen with their punishments.
